Drone Mapping, What is it, and how is It achieved?
Orthomosaic (s) also known by several other names such as Orthomosaic photos, orthorectified imagery, orthorectified mapping orthoimage (s), orthoimagery, orthophoto (s), orthophotography or drone mapping.
Ortho is a Greek prefix meaning straight, upright, or correct, hence the term Orthorectified image Orthophoto, Orthodontics, Orthopedic, etc. Our subject Orthophoto which as we will soon learn to understand is the outcome of processing images or data using a particular method for rectification.
Rectification or rectify is obviously a term that means to correct something that isn’t quite right or right something that is completely wrong. So in terms of Orthorectification or Orthorectified mapping, we see Ortho meaning to make straight and rectify to correct what is wrong.
Orthoimagery
Orthoimagery another variation of the same process is currently being in several industries as the orthoimage provides true reference and measurable details from one point of interest to another. In reality, these orthoimage (s) can be used in most industries for various outputs.
